Church Labour Law

Church Labour Law

Church institutions are the second largest employer in Germany after state administrative authorities. Special regulations apply to these employment relationships due to the churches’ right of self-determination, e.g. the Employment Contract Guidelines (“Arbeitsvertragsrichtlinien“), the Employee Representation Ordinance (“Mitarbeitervertretungsordnung“) and the Employee Representation Act (“Mitarbeitervertretungsgesetz“). We advise and support church legal entities not only in their day-to-day business of employment law, but also in the implementation of operational changes, such as mergers, cooperations or partial closures. Special attention is paid here to the legal relationships of the church supplementary pension funds.
